Find Flight

Find Flight is from W. Curt Deegan   (sharer: dC), who lives in Boca Raton, (southeast) Florida, USA.

Uses a flight number to retrieve flight and airport details from Internet on-line databases.  PP designated plane feature used to pick flight to look up and add to PP database Route field.  PP Route time stamp used to update old routes.  Options can be changed while running.  Will look up and set reg.num. and a/c type.  Manual, automatic, and unattended modes.  Includes AutoZoom function.  Now with mouse-over pop-up route info display.

How FindFlight interacts with PP.

FindFlight doesn't access or maintain its own or other databases, it passes the data it obtains from Internet databases to PP for retention and further use.

FF scans the planes known to PP and if a flight with an ADS (hex) code is missing the registration number, and/or aircraft type, FF will search this out from databases on the Internet and provide it to PP.  If there is a flight number along with the ADS code, FF will determine if the associated route data -- as provided by PP -- is current, if it isn't or there is none, FF will find the route and pass that to PP as well, or FF will do that later should a flight number become available.

The reg.num. and/or aircraft type FF provides to PP is added to the Basestation SQL DB.  If there is no entry for the associated ADS code, PP will create one.  The route data supplied by FF is added by PP to its own SQL database, creating an entry for the flight number if one isn't already there.  PP also records the date/time stamp of the route update.

When all is said and done, as much as can be determined by FF on a given ADS code flight, regarding registration number, aircraft type, and flight route, will have been added by PP to its own and Basestation SQL DBs.

Flight Display

Flight display is written by Allan Bird from the UK.

FlightDisplay interfaces with PlanePlotter to identify routes from the flightID for specific aircraft or all the aircraft in a user specifed area.  FD will also download pictures of the aircraft from the internet which can be displayed on the PP display.  FD can also log flight information to its own database which can then be queried.  See the manual included in the .zip file for further features.

PPOutlineNavigator

PPOutlineNavigator from Keith Tallent in the UK is an add on tool bar for PlanePlotter to enable simple one click navigation in Outline View Mode.  There are simple one click buttons to enable animated panning and zooming in any direction, with a slider bar to enable quarter, half, three quarter and full screen levels of zoom and pan.  Requires Planeplotter 4.8 or later and .Net framework 2.0 or later.
